Jace Martin is an artist with a passion for music, in the smooth unique stylings of his voice, you can hear he’s truly developed his own groove.
He was born and raised on Six Nations, Ontario and began singing professionally at the age of 13 at area music venues, festivals and on stage in Toronto, Ontario under mentorship from Canada’s Queen of Jazz and Grammy Nominee Salome Bey in a theatre production called, “Rainboworld” that launched the career of R&B Superstar Deborah Cox and many more including Jace Martin.
Martin, joined his brother band “The Wolfpack” singing for packed crowds all around southern ontario singing covers of the greats including Stevie Ray Vaughn, Stevie Wonder and Ritchie Valens and eventually won a Canada wide Talent show on APTN called “On Stage” out of 1000′s of Artists. While with The Wolfpack, Jace Martin won 3 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards for “Best Blues Album” 2003, 2005 & “Best Group” 2004 while garnering the #13 “Best Blues Album” Release in 2005 according to The Toronto Blues Society, right behind BB King and ahead of Downchild Blues Band.
In 2008 Jace released his Self-Titled Debut Solo album recorded at Grant Ave Studios in Hamilton, Ontario former studio to U2 Super Producer Daniel Lanois and had his first single “What I Need” climb to #3 on The National Aboriginal Top 40 Countdown. The album racked up 14 nominations at the CAMA, APCMA’s, Hamilton Music Awards, NAMMY’s for various categories including “Best Male Artist” “R&B Recording of The Year” and then took home the “Best Blues Album” at the NAI Image Awards in New Mexico.
In 2009 Jace met Nashville Country Star Crystal Shawanda at the APCMA’s and she was impressed by his performance and she asked him for his album, and in listening became an instant fan, and found what her new label “New Sun Records” was looking for. New Sun Records was started by Shawanda and guitarist/husband Dewayne Strobel, as a production team their passion for music lead them to find other outlets.
On his Debut World Release and First Album with Newsun Records, Jace Martin shines in new songs such as “Love of My Dreams” & “Falling Stars” and on re-recordings like “All Alone” & “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”. Jace sings with a renewed conviction, that sincerely believes he has found his voice, taking it old school on his rendition of “We Belong Together” previously recorded by Ritchie Valens. The Brand New EP is titled “Falling Stars” showcases an artist that knows exactly who he is, and is vibrant, energetic, funky, soulful and sincere. His positive attitude and willingness to grow and change inspires all, while his music takes you right to where it feels real good, right to where it’s all, Jace Martin.
